HOW TO USE FACE OIL

Using a face oil as part of your daily skincare routines provides more than just a moment to nourish your skin. Massaging face oil into your skin allows you to reconnect with yourself, get to know your skin, and has the added benefits of encouraging a natural glow by stimulating blood circulation.

Simple face oil routine:

1) Use 4- 5 drops of Nurture Face Oil and apply to damp skin. This is important as the oil locks in the moisture to deeply hydrate the skin barrier.

2) Drop the oil into the palms of your hand and bring your hands together.

3) Massage the face oil into your skin using gentle upward circular movements.

4) Finish by gently patting your face.

A facial massage ritual with massage therapist Tia Tamblyn:

I am delighted to share with you this beautiful face massage ritual, created for the Phoenix & Providence community by therapist Tia Tamblyn. This ritual is perfect for boosting energy at the start of the day, or releasing tension at the end, connecting with yourself, and taking a moment to still your mind.

OTHER FACE OIL QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Can you use face oil for oily skin?

The most asked question about using a face oil, is can it be used if you have oily skin. In fact, plant- based face oils by their nature are an extremely helpful way to help balance the skin barrier and sebum production.

There can be the tendency to suppose oil- free formulations are preferable if you have oily skin. But by stripping your skin of oil, your skin sends signals to produce more sebum. Using a natural, plant-based oil sends signals to the sebum glands to slow down oil production, leaving your skin balanced.

Does face oil clog pores?

The synthetic ingredients found in more conventional beauty products, such as mineral oils, have a larger molecular structure that sit on your skins surface. This can lead to clogged pores. The small molecules of plant-based oils resemble our own skin cell structure, allowing these oils to be much more easily absorbed and pores unclogged.

One of the ingredients found in our Nurture Face Oil is Hemp Seed Oil. Hemp Seed Oil is high in linoleic acid which can help to unclog pores.

Does face oil cause acne?

As you have read, plant based oils not only balance the skin, but also can be much more easily absorbed by the skin barrier, preventing breakouts and acne.

The star ingredient of our Nurture Face Oil is the seaweed extract that we harvest by hand from the beaches of St. Martin’s, one of the five inhabited Isles of Scilly. Seaweed is naturally antibacterial and helps to heal acne breakouts.

Does face oil go on before moisturiser?

Face oil can be used morning and evening in place of a moisturiser. The key is to apply the face oil to damp skin to lock in the moisture, deeply hydrating the skin barrier.

The advantage of using a face oil is that it is completely natural and doesn’t contain the fillers or preservatives required to make a moisturising cream. As your biggest organ, your skin absorbs what you apply into your blood stream. Our Nurture Face Oil is made of four organic plant-based oils, infused with seaweed, with the addition of natural Vitamin E to help extend the shelf life. 100% natural, as is the entire Phoenix & Providence skincare range.

What ingredients are used in the Phoenix & Providence seaweed infused Nurture Face Oil?

Our Nurture Face Oil is infused with seaweed harvested from the shore of the Isles of Scilly. Seaweed is a wonderful ingredient for all skin types. Rich in antioxidants and fatty acids, seaweed helps soothe, balance and plump skin. The essential vitamins found in seaweed also encourages the production of collagen, helping smooth fine lines, and enhance skin tone and texture.

The seaweed is infused in cold pressed organic oils. We only ever use cold-pressed organic oils as this process helps them retain the beneficial, natural qualities of the oils.

The Nurture Face Oil is handmade using:

Jojoba Oil, most similar in structure to our own sebum, this light oil works well with all skin types and doesn’t leave a greasy feel.

Argan Oil, which has regenerative and firming qualities owing to its fatty acids and antioxidants, which helps maintain the elasticity of the skin.

Hemp Seed Oil, which along with containing anti-inflammatory and healing compounds, is high in linoleic acid which helps to unclog pores.

Rosehip Seed Oil, high in essential fatty acids that help keep skin cell walls strong, and rich in naturally occurring form of Vitamin A (retinoic acid) that is known for it’s anti-aging qualities.

Does the Nurture Face contain essential oils?

No.

Essential oils are natural extracts, distilled from flowers and plants. They can provide a beautiful fragrance, as well as having beneficial properties. We use essential oils in our bath and body products but not in our facial skincare range.

Essential oils do have the potential to aggravate skin, especially the sensitive areas on our face such as around the eyes and mouth. Certain essential oils are also phototoxic, meaning they can react with UV light and damage skin cells. Our face, by its nature, is more likely to be exposed to UV rays.

As the Nurture Face Oil does not contain any essential or fragrance oils, it is suitable to be used on all skin types; sensitive, acne prone, dry, and maturing. It is suitable to be used by either women or men of all ages.

For women, as we move through our hormonal cycles over the course of a month and our lifetime, we can experience a variety of skin concerns. The Nurture Face Oil has been formulated to support your skin barrier at whatever point you find yourself.

Can you use face oil around your eyes?

Yes! As the face oil is free from essential and fragrance oils, it can be used around the delicate eye area. Gently pat the oil into the skin, perhaps taking time to hold the pressure point in your eye socket to release any tension, as demonstrated by Tia in the above video.
